Get a comfortable catch when you whip, even while lead rope soloing!
The Comfort Catch absorber is a stiff rubber link that stretches under load, giving a ramped impact that is much more comfortable than the spike of dynamic rope absorption alone. The eyelets clip into locking carabiners while still leaving space for a limiter sling.
Available in Compact (pairs with 60cm sling for 33cm [13 inches] of travel) or Plush (pairs with 90cm sling for 51cm [20 inches] of travel).
Painstakingly optimized through many geometry and material revisions, these rubber absorbers add off-the-shelf convenience to your LRS absorber assembly by matching standard length PPE limiter slings. We tried a dozen engineering rubber grades, chose the best-performing for both stretch and dampening, and optimized the shape for a minimal package. See the instructions link below for our recommended gear assembly.
*0kN - Not PPE*
Non-structural absorber to be used in parallel to a PPE System. Not intended to reduce impact force on marginal anchors.
Recommended Number of Absorbers by Climber Weight: *The Absorbers are sold as individual links. Below is a very rough estimate for stiffness calibration, assuming falls near the anchor with minimal rope drag. Rope drag will quickly dominate in absorption effects, negating the need for perfect calibration*
Compact (60cm Sling) - Best for minimal adventures -1 Absorber: scenarios with significant rope drag -2 Absorbers: climber less than 160lb (73kg) -3 Absorbers: climber greater than 160lb (73kg)
Plush (90cm Sling) - Best for daily crag usage -1 Absorber: scenarios with significant rope drag -2 Absorbers: climber less than 180lb (82kg) -3 Absorbers: climber greater than 180lb (82kg)
Key Features:
Pairs with Standard Length Limiter Slings
We optimized the absorber length to use standard PPE sling lengths as limiters. With just the right stretch, you get the maximum absorption for the minimal material weight, without risking breakage, even in repeated falls.
Extremely Durable
Go LRS cragging and whip all day long without fear of abrading or wearing out these absorbers. No protective sheath or cover required.
Modular for Tuning based on Pitch Characteristics
It is easy to add or remove absorbers from your assembly based on pitch characteristics - are you going to fall close to the anchor? Follow the calibration recommendations. Do you expect to fall higher up with rope drag? Remove an absorber for a more comfortable catch.
I got two of these but only use one on my system as per photo... Its such a nice catch.. I'm 63kg and two of them don't even stretch much when I fall so I'm good with one. I went with the back up fall arrester but just use rope now as it was too bulky to stick clip and the rope is more than enough. Wouldn't leadsolo without this product.

Great stuff

Used for lead sport and trad rope solo. Havent taken a fall on them yet, but after watching avant and hownot2 vids im sure my body will appreciate the set up when I finally whip.
Jacob Y.5/5Verified
I threw a hair tie on it to keep it tidy

I had a great experience with the seller. Due to a confusion, I ordered only one absorber, and when I ordered the second unit, the seller was very kind and waived my shipping costs. The material seems to be of very good quality, and I've already tested it on a track. I'm very happy with it.

"Thanks to Avant Climbing Innovations for this effective device: Plush Comfort Catch."

So comforting to know that a low-altitude fall on a rigid ground-anchor won’t strain gear more than necessary. I climb more freely knowing it’s built into my LRS system!

Molt bones sensacions sobretot a les 4-5 primeres assegurances. Jo peso uns 70-71 kg i utilitzo dues gomes.
Agusti R.5/5Verified
Thank you for the great product! Easy to use, setup, and integrate with my solo anchor that uses the Avant Quicklink Slide-Cinch!

👍

Very happy with it — easy to set up and provided extra reassurance and comfort when falling onto the lower bolts.

I’m enjoying the comfort these give me in relation to falling close to the anchor, I’ve wanted to try a bungee before but never found the time to try and make one.
Im so happy that Avant has taken that time for me and created this cool product.
The build quality is up there with the other Avant products I’ve purchased and the delivery, packaging and communication were excellent also 🙂👍.

I took 2 hard LRS falls just above the first bolt and they were NOT fun! So I was very excited when Avant came out with the comfort catch absorber (I own all the LRS/TRS related products and they make my solo escapades a lot more safer and enjoyable). Got to play with it today, and I recommend it wholeheartedly, it is very streamlined, and seems to work great for my weight

Great Invention!
For my weight (75 naked) i find 2 are still quite hard on the first 4 bolts and one is to soft. When i fell on a single one it gave me a nice catch but it streched a lot and took a long time to shrink again, so i got a bit scared to damaged it if using one alone.
Definitly worth for my 15m home crack routes but i think i wouldn't bring them on a multipitch, also not the short ones. (But i climb multipiches way below my singepitch grade)
Lukas G.4/5Verified
great product! used it for LRS, and now its part of my gear. gonna climb better knowing that I have more protection if I fall.
Ang L.5/5Verified
Quick process, great product.
Emilian S.5/5Verified
easy to set up, havn't fallen it it yet but seems like a nice plush catch
John B.5/5Verified
Works great in conjunction with the soft cinch which I also purchased to do LRS.
Adi K.5/5Verified
Works great!
Christo L.5/5Verified
Just what i needed

Good concept and effective if you are not intimo free diving..A Speargun rubber band of the right thickness tied in between a slack section of rope by 2 Alpine butterfly knots will give similar results easily reducing 25kg or more from the shock load before rope gets tight.

Top product!

excellent item. congratulations
Paola V.5/5Verified
Very good
Janko D.5/5Verified
It works well and soft. I jumped and tests it.
Timo M.5/5Verified
I have not try for the moment .
Soon....
Thierry C.3/5Verified
I already tested it and I'm going to prepare myself to be able to use it on a multi-pitch !!
Louis T.4/5Verified
i have a question. how do you stickclip the steel biner with the bungees attached to it ? seems like it wouldn't fit in the superclip rescue
Oliver K.5/5
whith this gear i can work hard piches, thank you so much
Papazian J.5/5Verified
Perfect, *multiple use*, solution. No more screamers to worry about activating.
Tim B.5/5Verified
Amazing gear, essential I’d say, for lead rope solo climbing.
Andrea B.5/5Verified
This will put my engineering a similar end use bungee experiment to bed for a while. Can’t wait to use!
